Resources:
Preambulatory Clauses
  • Highlight/Validate the issues of the topic. Ensure the issues you choose to highlight are solved in your Operative Clauses
  • End each Preamb with a comma (,) except for the last one which should end in a semi-colon (;)
Operative Clauses
  • Solve the issues you outlined in the Preambs
  • All Ops should end in a semi-colon (;)
  • If using subclauses, there should be two. If there is only one, move that information into the main clause.
    • Subclauses should end in a comma (,)
    • The second to last subclause should end in "; and,"
    • The last Subclause should end in a semi colon (;)
Tips
  • Capitalize: Member States, World, Internet, USD, any # less than or equal to 10
  • DO NOT create a new committee, data base, or x. You can, however, assign tasks to an existing committee (under our purview)
Substantive Edits to look out for:
  • Stats are sourced
  • When referring to a UN doc, state the general function of said doc
  • Use "Member State" unless the country in question is not a member of the UN. Then they are a "state"
  • Spell out acronyms the first time they are used
  • New committee
    • Is there a current body that exists that does the same? Yes-- improve existing
    • Logistically feasible?
    • Who will be involved?
    • What will it do? Founded? Begin to function?
    • Where will it meet? How often? Who has to attend?
    • Who will fund? (needs to be logistical)
